Education Manager

Position/Ausschreibungstext
Responsibilities: Responsible for the development and implementation of history museum education programs in an outdoor environment. This position will utilize the rich natural and historical resources located on Meadowcroft's 275-acre, rural campus to provide the foundation for a creative blend of history and environmental science curricula. The site's National Historic Landmark, together with the museum's recreated 19th century village, and the surrounding environment, provide a unique setting for this new programming initiative. Programs will focus on the people groups who have lived on the site throughout its 16,000-year history and the available natural resources that sustained them.
Besonderheiten
These programs will serve school groups, scout groups, and a family audience. This Manager will also coordinate the training and evaluation of part-time interpreters and volunteer docents; as well as supervise the work of these positions. This position will also oversee the nationally recognized Old Stories/New Voices Intercultural Youth Program in partnership with the Colorado Historical Society.
Requriements: Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree in museum education, museum studies, or related field is preferred. The candidate should have a passion for history and the outdoors, possess excellent written and oral communications skills, supervisory experience, experience working with audiences of diverse ages and communities, developing youth group and adult activities and writing history and/or science curriculum. Museum teaching experience preferred.
Hours: Typically daylight hours; however, flexibility is required due to special events/programs, meetings and institutional/departmental need or to work other hours as required of a salaried exempt staff member
