"The european forum for migration studies (efms) is a research institute at the University of Bamberg. It was founded in 1993; its subject areas are migration and the integration of migrants in Europe. The tasks of the efms encompass research, policy advice, consultation services, evaluation, further training, information and documentation.
Migration and integration are characteristics of European societies. By means of interdisciplinary research in the field of social sciences, the efms wishes to improve the knowledge and understanding of these social phenomena. The exchange of information between researchers, politicians, administrators and the public is a key objective of the efms. In this respect services for practical implementation play a central role.

The efms seeks to assist in shaping a viable and humane migration and integration policy in Germany and Europe."
