”He was born in Rimini in 1964. After the high school, he attends the European Institute of Design in Milan, where he starts his professional career as a photographer.
Since 1990 he is member of the staff of Contrasto and lives in Rimini.
After several trips to African countries and Europe his main focus in shooting pictures has been the most difficult among social topics: immigrants and dropout, drugs, prostitution, and life on the border. He has documented as well the nightlife, in Italy and Europe, in the most exciting and shocking moments. His photos have been widely published in the main newspapers and magazines, like Panorama, Espresso, Geo, El Paìs, Sette, The Independent, The Observer etc, in Italy and abroad. Among his main reportages, we should mention a long research in black and white on the beaches and summer resorts of his native city, Rimini. This story has been published in a special issue of GEO magazine (April 1997) from Germany and in The Observer. It will also be published as a book in 1998.
In 1994 he's awarded with the Premio Linea d'Ombra (a prize from an International Literary Review).
In 1995 he has been selected among the 12 best photojournalists to take part in the World Press Photo Masterclass. In 1996, the Editorial Staff of El Pais- Magazine give to Marco Pesaresi a Special Honour Mention for his Subway reportage.
During 18 months, Pesaresi has devoted his full time to document the underground transportation's life in the main cities of the world (the subways of Berlin, New York, London, Calcutta, Mexico City, Moscow, Madrid, Tokyo, Paris and Milano). This work has been published in several issues of El Paìs magazine in Spain, and Sette/Corriere della Sera (Italy), and will become a book and a travelling exhibition. An exhibition has been presented during the last International Visa pour l'Image of Perpignan in September 1996, then in Milano at Triennale and in London (Pitshanger Gallery).
